Advertised to be the "Royalty of Fire Apparatus," Crown was a pioneer of cab-forward rigs. Crown's fire apparatus had a very distinctive appearance (much like the school buses that were Crown's main stock in trade) that collectors and restorers appreciate today. Most of Crown's apparatus were sold to Southern California departments, but a few made it to the northwest, the midwest, even Alaska, Hawaii and Kuwait, and a few other locations. This photo archive is a perfect supplement to Ed Hass's book. I'm kinda fond of this book since the cover photo is of Huntington Beach's pumper/tanker #8201 (back when the apparatus were assigned numbers, not letter/number combos). Huntington Beach owned many Crowns, no others of which made this book;
