High Angle Rescue

There are three main categories of rope rescue: high angle rescue in urban structures,  wilderness and mountain rescue, and cave rescue. All three areas are part of a solid plan for firefighter training in technical rescue.

High angle rescue typically involves heavy equipment and is completed in less time than the wilderness, mountain or cave rescues. It is a staple of urban firefighter training and a highly coveted specialty area in most departments.  Although there are similarities in the techniques of all three areas of rope rescue, they are distinct subsets of high angle rescue, each employing different skills reflecting the disparate situations. The firefighter training will typically include some medical training as part of the education presented.
